Finland. ★/⊙. An extraordinary range, very complex and scholarly even for the more experienced student of these issues, specifically for the first lion definitives of 1919 to 1929, all housed in four volumes with 1000s of stamps with countless varieties, unusual postmarks, lots of multiples, superb imprint blocks of six with the month and year of printing to determine the different papers, etc, etc. Much of this is a 'work in progress', as this collector expanded over a 40 year period of serious buying anything he could find. especially material that was different to the norm. It is because of this that while there are many pages of album leaves, there are also many more pages for the multiples housed in large stockcards, often written up accordingly to identify the stamps. Almost an impossible lot to describe as it is so in depth - anybody who is interested in this area of Finnish philately will be absolutely delighted in the breadth and scope of what is here. The viewing could take hours just to begin to appreciate this amazing holding. Approx. 6 kg. Show less

Britain. Used. If quality is the hallmark of your collecting penny reds, then this outstanding accumulation, housed in five volumes is absolutely recommended. Primarily but by no means exclusively, penny red stars – and there must be about 1000 per book, in the order of 5000 stamps. It is interesting apart from the tip-top quality to consider the methodology of this collector, apart from the quality he sought. From what we can see, it is postmarks, rather than sheet reconstructions – however the expert in this field will no doubt see other different dimensions as well. Such a good old fashioned holding of the line engraved issues is seldom available today, it is offered intact, as received. The catalogue must be in the order £100,000, an average of £20 per stamp, substantially more however for the stars. Show less

Good section of postage dues incl, 1 fr 1881 and 5 fr 1884, At the end some telegraph stamps, colonies (general) and a few covers and postal cards. France. ★★. Back of the book only, considerable duplication with anything relating to railways, as listed in the Ceres specialised catalogue, all in pristine condition MNH from 1919 to 1930 offered in tryptic format (x3 se-tenant). Everything is listed and catalogued, as far as we can tell there is a minimum of 40,000 euro, probably nearer 50,000 euro resale value. This is a most unusual holding, the likes of which you will very probably not see again. If you are a dealer this is a great opportunity particularly if you have the time to market this online. Much of this material is very seldom seen, offered intact as received. Show less

French colonies. ★★. Outstanding stock, virtually all mint never hinged sets, housed in two boxes, containing 100s of stockcards from countries such as Wallis and Futuna, French Polynesia - both these areas are very strongly represented – as well as good ranges of Djibouti, Comoros, Congo, St Pierre Miquelon, Mauritania, Mali, etc. The vast majority are not catalogued, however we can safely project a minimum catalogue in excess of 100,000 euro. There are a wide range of topics from Polynesian boats, omnibus, human rights, ancient art forms from islands, etc. From Wallis butterflies, flowers, boats, ships, seashells, culture, etc. Many other countries African countries have themes such as musical instruments, balloons, trains, birds, boy scouts, space, athletics and much more. This is without doubt the best French Colonies holding we have had the pleasure to offer for modern sets of 1960s through to the 1990s. Many of the sets are displayed in blocks of 4 in the stockcards and this is an extraordinary holding with absolutely huge potential for resale. Approx. 34 kg. Show less

Nepal. ★/⊙. A good old time collection housed on quadrille album leaves, mint and used. The first page sets the pace with 28 examples of the cut squares imperf, all with generous margins, quite probably all one a kind with at least 10 mint. The next page consists of multiples of these issues including used blocks of four and pairs tete-beche, yet further imperfs require classification, followed by a sheet of 64 used of the rectangular black definitives, leading onto various diffferent types of high values etc., etc. There are many very scarce items here especially in the first three pages. We have not had a chance to study these properly and the collection is offered as received, an outstanding opportunity with many potential individual items present. Show less

New Zealand. ★/⊙. A good old fashioned grandfather collection, mint and used, housed in a SG Plymouth album on quadrille leaves with good classics through to back of the book officials, postal fiscals, etc. Highlights include Chalons with a few imperfs with a well balanced cds four margined 6d and 2 distinct shades on the 1/- with and star and NZ watermark, then there are perforated Chalons with 10 to identify from the various different printings, leaving on to the small definitive types with a good range of a few dozen to 1/-, etc. Then early 20th century with Mt Cook to 5/- and various different perforation types on to KGV, with an excellent range of mint side profiles with at least 2 dozen of these to investigate and then the same again used, followed by the victory set complete mint, similarly Dunedin, etc. Then virtually completion KGVI to QEII – then the collection starts again with 19th century lighthouses, extensive perf studies looking very impressive, the long postal fiscals to values to £1, the latter of which is postally used, the arms type with £2, £3 and £4 inc watermark inverted, etc, ending with the officials. The collection is completely uncatalogued and has much merit throughout – there is the distinct probability of finds to be made as this was formed many decades ago. A recommended viewing, a collection with substance throughout. Show less

U.S.A. Mostly used. A most worthwhile collection of 1851 onwards, an abundance of classics including 1861 to 90 cts Washington, a good study of the grills 1867 type E, complete, 11x13 mm, then type F grills complete, 1 ct to 30 cts 9x13m, 1869 various to 30 cts, various with and without grills 1871, 1873s secret marks Perry, followed by 1879 soft porous paper complete to 90 cts, 1887 complete to 90 cts Perry mauve, also the 1890 complete to 90 cts orange, Columbus to 50 cts, Omahas to $ 1, various better defins, turn of the century, excellent range of Washington Heads, especially coils, etc. However the very best in our opinion is the back of the book, particularly so with the departmentals with war, treasury and interior complete and many other key values and as far as we can see ducks virtually complete, if not complete. Occasional mixed condition. In the beginning mixed quality, later fine. Show less

Vietnam. ★★. Very impressive stock, accompanied by some Laos, etc. The main value is in both North and South Vietnam with many 100s of stockcards often with blocks of 4 or strips, housed in a large wooden box, overwhelmingly in complete sets from the 1950s through to the 1980s, all MNH including strong back of the book. All completely uncatalogued but its retail potential will clearly run into 10s of 1000s of euro. There is duplication, however it is often in the better sets including Vietnam space 1961, Red Cross, homage to Ho Chi Minh, back to the 1950s with monarchy sets in qty, etc, etc. This fabulous holding of so many different topicals really must be viewed to be appreciated, an excellent opportunity.
