WELCOME AS CONSIGNOR AT OUR AUCTIONS!

AB Philea

Terms and conditions

  • AB Philea is Sweden’s largest philatelic/numismatic auction house, with offices in e.g. Stockholm and Göteborg.
  • We hold about ten philatelic auctions per year, of which two are quality auctions and the others are called international auctions. We also hold two numismatic auctions per year. The quality auctions are usually held on Thursdays in May and November, and the numismatic auctions on Saturdays in May and November. The international auctions are usually two days, and held on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
All these auctions are public. See the auction calendar.
  • Consignments are always welcome. To be included in an auction, consignments should reach us no later than 2 months before the auction.
  • Our commission is 20%. Lower commission can be discussed for very expensive lots.
  • The minimum reserve for monthly auctions is 300 SEK per single lot and 500 SEK for collections.
The minimum reserve for quality actions is 500 SEK per single lot and 1,000 SEK for collections.
  • Consignments must have a total reserve of at least 2,000 SEK
  • All auctions are published here at www.philea.se, the most visited philatelic/numismatic site in Northern Europe.
  • All International auctions, quality auctions, and numismatic auctions are also published on the international websites Stamp Auction Network, Philasearch, and NumisBids.
  • Settlement is made 5–6 weeks after the auction.

How to consign

  1. Give us some information about your material: e.g. type of lots, price in your opinion, weight and the approximate number of lots.
  2. If the material is suitable for sale at auction, usually the case if it motivates a total reserve over SEK 2000 – you will get a message from us asking you to send your lots (unless of course you want to visit any of our offices.
  3. Send your lots in insured package or registered letter. Do not forget to tell us how you like to receive the payment from us.
  4. You will receive confirmation that we have received your lots, with a list of preliminary descriptions and reserves.
  5. If you think our preliminary descriptions are faulty, or if you want to change something, we will be able to correct it before the catalogue is printed.
  6. We finalize the descriptions.
  7. You will receive notification as to the lot numbers your material have in the auction.
  8. You will be able to view the results on our website including in logged-in mode.
  9. Our commission is normally 20%. Lower commission can be discussed for large holdings or very expensive lots.
  10. No other fees are added apart from postage for unsold return postage – if any.
  11. We'll send your settlement in about 6 weeks after the auction.
  12. Unsold lots may be sold in the post-auction sales at the reserve price.
  13. If lots remain unsold, we will automatically transfer these to the second next auction with a lower reserve.
  14. You will get information about the new reserve levels before the new catalogue is printed.

An alternative to selling at auctions is to sell the lots directly to us. You will probably get less paid than compared to what you could get in an auction, but you get paid sooner.
