Lot 2924 A

Romania. ★★/★/⊙. A most interesting accumulation from the classics onwards with the main value in the first blue volume, mint and used, beginning with the coat of arms imperfs of Moldavia Walachia with about 50 of these, incl. different papers, followed by the Prince Carol types left profiles 1865 and 1866/67, similarly the 1869/70 types mint and used and the 1869/71/72 imperf Prince Carol types with virtually every type represented. In these three categories alone, there are about 200 examples and as far as we can see all genuine including the key and high value denominations, be it all in mixed condition. These pages alone very probably have a five figure catalogue value, followed by the perforated issues of 1872 onwards with hundreds of these again incl. used multiples, as well as a many postmarks from the various principalities of Romania. The holding continues with early 20th century esp. the pictorial types in strength, etc. The other two albums are essentially a mint new issue service for the 2000s with several dozen pages inc souvenir sheets, comprehensive, with a substantial new issue cost. A two generational holding that will delight any serious collector or dealer of this increasingly popular country.
