Sweden. Courier mail. Very early and rare courier letter with very nice handwriting, dated at Stockholm Castle August 4, 1605. Punched with device and probably smoked to desinfect the letter. During whole year 1605 the plague haunted Stockholm. Full beautifully written content. Also in August Karl IX sailed from Stockholm across the Baltic Sea with a fleet of about 40 warships and transport ships with troops for a campaign in Polish Livonia and besieged Riga. Excellent quality!
